작업노트

나의 작업은 가속화를 추구하는 시대의 흐름 속에서 일상화되고 당연시 여겨지는 것과 일반적인 것으로 간주되는 것에 대한 문제 제기다.

Performative 하고 조각적인 작업에서 나는 대면과 연결을 전제로 하는 소통의 수단을 제시하고자 한다. 작품에 설치된 센서는 일전 시간 이상을 머문 관객에 의해 작동된다. 이 센서는 관객이 전체 메커니즘에 접근함으로써 작품에 내포된 의미들의 가능성들에 도달 할 수 있도록 한다. 관객들은, 우리가 쉽게 혹은 덜 쉽게 연결 지을 수 있는 이미지들, 문장, 단어들을 위시한 Sign과 Icon들 속에 내포된 메시지들을 보고 읽을 수 있게 된다.

작업에서 나는 축적된 Syntax(구문) 뒤에 숨겨진 그러나 공통된 의미에 대한 탐구를 제시한다. 이러한 과정 속에서 문명의 가속화가 야기한 가치의 혼란에 대한 문제를 환기시키며 극복하고자 한다.

My work raises a question involving what is taken for granted and assumed as ordinary in my generation.

In my performative and sculptural works I suggest a means of communication that is the precondition of encounter and connecting. A sensor installed in my piece is activated by a spectator who stays for a certain time. This sensor is a signal allowing the viewer access to the whole mechanism and thus to the possibilities of meaning within the work. They can read and see a group of massages infused with signs, icons representing vocabularies, texts, or images we can easily or less easily relate to.

In my works, I suggest the search for the hidden albeit common meaning behind collective syntax. Through this process I attempt to evoke thoughts about the confusion of values brought by acceleration of civilization.
